The number of ways in which 9 people can be divided into 3 groups of 3 each is \frac{9 !}{(3 !)^3}.\frac{1}{3!}

These 3 groups can be distributed in 3 different rooms in 3! ways

So, total number of ways = \frac{9 !}{(3 !)^3}.\frac{1}{3!}. 3!= 1680
