As we learnt in 

Orbital velocity when satellite is close to earth -

V=\sqrt{\frac{GM}{R}}=\sqrt{gR}

V=\sqrt{9.8\times 6.4\times 10^{6}}

=7.9Km/s\; \simeq 8Km/s

V\rightarrow Orbital velocity

g\rightarrow9.8M/s^{2}

R\rightarrow Radius of Earth

As  h=0 and  GM=gR^{2}

 

 Velocity of satellite will remain same as v but it will move along tangential direction.
