The amplitude of a damped oscillation becomes half in one minute. The amplitude after 3 mins will \frac{1}{x} the original, where x is

  • Option 1)

    2 \times 3

  • Option 2)

    2^{3}

  • Option 3)

    3^{2}

  • Option 4)

    3 \times 2^{3}

A = A_{0} e^{-\lambda t}\;\;\;\; (\lambda = constant\;\;\& \;\;t = time)

For

 \\*t = 1 min\;\;\frac{A_{0}}{2} = A_{0}e^{-\lambda t}\Rightarrow e^{\lambda} = 2 \\*t = 3min \Rightarrow \frac{A_{0}}{2^{3}} \Rightarrow x = 2^{3}

Resultant amplitude in damped oscillation -

A=A_{0}.e^{-\frac{bt}{2m}}

E=E_{0}.e^{-\frac{bt}{2m}}

- wherein

A= Amplitude

E= Energy
