Question is based on the following paragraph.

An initially parallel cylindrical beam travels in a medium of refractive index  \mu (I)=\mu _{0}+\mu _{2}I,where\;\mu _{0}\; and\; \mu _{2} are positive constants and I is the intensity of the light beam. The intensity of the beam is decreasing with increasing radius.

Question: As the beam enters the medium, it will

Option: 1

Travel as a cylindrical beam

Option: 2

Diverge

Option: 3

Converge

Option: 4

Diverge near the axis and converge near the periphery

Intensity of beam decreasesing means \mu (I) decreasing as we move away from central region

As the beam enters the medium , \mu will be maximum and speed will be minimum on the axis of the beam so the beam will converge
