- wherein

Electrolyte moist paste of KOH - ZnO cathode reaction HgO(s)+H_{2}O(l)+2e^{-}\rightarrow Hg(l)+2OH^{-}

Anode reaction Zn(Hg)+2\overline{O}H(aq)\rightarrow ZnO(s)+H_{2}(l)+2e^{-}

Cell potential 1.35V

 

 Graphite is used as cathod . All other are correct 

Graphite is used to prevent collection of mercury into large droplets
