As we learnt

Equivalent mass -

It is equal to the molecular or atomic mass divided by the number of electrons involved in the reaction per molecule, atom or ion.

- wherein

e.g. 2H_{2}O\:+\:2e^{-}\rightarrow H_{2}\:+\:2OH^{-}

2 Faraday of electricity is used to produce one mole of gas

\therefore    Eq. Mass of hydrogen=\frac{2.016}{2}=1.008

Equivalent mass = Molar mass / H^+ ions released per molecule of acid

Molar mass of H_2SO_4 = 82

Equivalent mass = 82/ 2 = 41
