As we have learnt,

Gravitational Potential due to spherical shell -

 For Spherical shell

R\rightarrow Radius of shell

r\rightarrow distance from the centre of the shell

  • Inside the surface

          r<R

       V=-\frac{GM}{r}

  • on the surface

          r=R

       V=-\frac{GM}{R}

  • Outside the surface

        r>R

      V=-\frac{GM}{r}

 So

For outside points V = - \frac{GM}{r}

At an infinite distance V = - \frac{GM}{\infty} = 0

is the maximum value of V
