Simple Harmonic Motion -

It is special case of oscillatory motion of a vibrating particle in which the acceleration at any position is directly propotional to displacement from mean position & it is directed towards mean position.

- wherein

\vec{a}\; \alpha -\vec{x}

From the given information it can be inferred that points A and B are equidistant from mean position Hence from diagram it is clear that time period of oscillation is = 2 + 2 × 2 + 2 = 8 second.
