As we learnt in

Conjugate acid base pair -

If bronsted acid is a strong acid then its conjugate base is a weak base and vice versa.

- wherein

HCl+H_{2}O\rightleftharpoons H_{3}O^{+}+Cl^{-}

Cl- is conjugate base of  HCl  &  H3O+  is conjugate acid of  H2O.

Conjugate base is formed by the removal of H^{+} from acid

H_{2}PO_{4}^{-}\rightarrow HPO{_{4}}^{2-}+H^{+}

HP0_{4}^{-2} is a conjugate base of H_{2}PO_{4}^{-}
