What is middle row anomally?

Answers (1)

In the periodic table of the elements, the phrase “middle row anomaly” refers to the relative instability of bromine oxides (Br?O, BrO?, BrO?) compared to the other halogen oxides such as oxides of chlorine and iodine.

The bromine oxides, Br2?O, BrO2?, BrO3? are the least stable halogen oxides (Middle row anomaly) and exist only at low temperatures due to transition metal contraction.
