As we learnt ,

 

Nitric acid preparation by Ostwalds process -

NO formed during Ostwald's process combines with O2 giving NO2 which dissolves in water giving HNO3

- wherein

2NO+O_{2}\rightleftharpoons 2NO_{2}

3NO_{2}+H_{2}O\rightarrow HNO_{3}+NO

 

  3NO2 (g) + H2O(l)  \rightarrow  2HNO3 (aq) + NO (g)
