Let B’s age = x. Then, A’s age = 2 x.

Five years ago- A’s age = 2 x − 5 and B’s age = x − 5

Given- $$
2x−5=3(x−5)
$$

Solving the equation- $$
2x−5=3x−15
$$ $$
x=10
$$

So, the present age is

  • A = 2x = 20 years
  • B = x = 10 years
