best_answer

A cannon after firing recoils due to conservation of momentum.

Reason-

  • Before firing: Cannon and cannonball are both at rest → total momentum = 0.
  • After firing: The cannonball moves forward with high speed and momentum.

To balance this momentum, the cannon moves backward (recoils) with equal and opposite momentum.
