A voltmeter having a volate range of zero to \left(V_{A}-V_{B}\right) is obtained if a resistance R is connected in series with the galvanometer and the instrument is used between the points A and B-

In the given problem,

V_{A}-V_{B}=5 \mathrm{~V}

Now,

\begin{aligned} & V_{A}-V_{B}=I_{G}(G+R) \\ & R=\frac{V_{A}-V_{B}}{I_{C}}-C_{1}=\frac{5}{0.01}-10=500-10=490 \Omega \end{aligned}
