Torque on rod= Moment of weight of the rod about P.

T=mg\frac{L}{2}\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:- (1)

Moment of inertia of rod about P is \frac{ML^{2}}{3}

T= I \alpha \:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:-(2)

Mg\:\frac{L}{2}= \frac{ML^{2}}{3}\alpha

\alpha= \frac{3g}{2L}
