As we learnt in

Optical power of a mirror -

P= -frac{1}{f}

 

- wherein

f= focal length with sign and is in meters unit of power = diopter

 

 

 

Given, P_{1}=40D

and, P_{2}=20D

We have P_{eff}=40D+20D=60D

\Rightarrow f=\frac{100}{P_{eff}}=\frac{100}{60}cm\:\:\:\Rightarrow f=1.67 cm
