A body is moving with velocity 30m/s towards east. After 10 seconds its velocity becomes 40m/s towards north. The average acceleration of the body is

  • Option 1)

    1m/s2

  • Option 2)

    7m/s2

  • Option 3)

    7m/s2

  • Option 4)

    5m/s2

Answers (1)

As learnt in

Acceleration -

Rate of change of velocity with time.

For: a=change in velocity / change in time

a=frac{v}{t}

a=frac{v_{f}-v_{i}}{t}

- wherein

Eg. A car starting from rest accelerates uniformly to a speed of 75 m/s in 12 seconds. What is car’s acceleration ?

v_{i}= 0

v_{f}= 75 m/s

a= ? a=frac{v_{f}-v_{i}}{t}

=frac{75-0}{12}

a = 6.25 m/s2

 Av - acceleration

\left | a \right | = \frac{40\hat{J}-30\hat{i}}{10-0} = 4\hat{J} - 3\hat{i}

\left | a \right | = 4\hat{J} - 3\hat{J}

\left | a \right | = \sqrt{16+9} = 5ms^{-2}

Option 1)

1m/s2

This option is incorrect

Option 2)

7m/s2

This option is incorrect

Option 3)

7m/s2

This option is incorrect

Option 4)

5m/s2

This option is correct
