Trypsin and chymotrypsin are the types of digestive enzymes that are secreted by the pancreas. They help in digesting the proteins in the food. Trypsin prefers breaking down basic amino acid bonds, while chymotrypsin acts on aromatic amino acids (like tyrosine, phenylalanine).

  1. Site of Production- Trypsin and chymotrypsin are produced by the pancreas in an inactive form. Trypsin is secreted as trypsinogen, and chymotrypsin is secreted as chymotrypsinogen.
  2. Site of action- They become active in the small intestine (duodenum), where they help digest proteins. Trypsin converts chymotrypsinogen into active chymotrypsin.
