As we learnt ,

 

If V_{L}=V_{c}=V -

V= V_{R}

- wherein

Whole applied voltage appears across the resistance.

 

 In LCR circuit ,

applied voltage V_{a} = \sqrt{V_{R}^{2} + \left ( V_{L} - V_{C} \right )^{2}}

If  VL = VC = V 

V_{a} = \sqrt{V_{R}^{2} }

Va = VR
