Fluid mosaic model of Singer and Nicolson (1972) -

It is the widely accepted model. It states that the biological membranes are quasi- fluid structure in which lipid and protein are organized in a mosaic manner. According to this model, there is a layer of lipid molecule with globular protein and sterols that are arranged is different manner in different regions of the Plasma Membrane.
