The enzyme succinyl CoA synthetase converts succinyl CoA into succinate. Along with that, GDP is phosphorylated at the substrate level to produce GTP. ATP is formed when GTP transfers its phosphate to ADP.

Two carbon molecules, three NADH molecules, one FADH2 molecule, one ATP or GTP molecule, and are created during one cycle.

GTP produced by it is responsible for signal transduction.
