f_{o} = focal length of objective

f_{e}= focal length of eyepiece

 

for large angular magnification and high angular resolution , the objective lens of refracting telescope should have large diameter and large focal length  

 

M=\frac{f_{0}}{f_{e}}    and resolving power =\frac{d}{1.22\lambda }
