Blood is the transport medium for oxygen and carbon dioxide. About 97% of oxygen is carried in the blood by red blood cells. The remaining 3% of the oxygen is transported by the plasma in a dissolved state. About 20 to 25% of carbon dioxide is transported by red blood cells, 70% of which is in the form of bicarbonate. About 7% of carbon dioxide is transported in plasma in a dissolved state. Hence, option 1 is correct.
