Ethidium Bromide is a type of fluorescent dye that is used in agarose gel electrophoresis. It inserts itself between the DNA pairs, so when viewed under UV light, DNA fragments appear as bright orange coloured bands.

  1. In Solution (Before Binding to DNA): It appears reddish-orange under normal light.
  2. When Bound to DNA (Under UV Light): It shows fluorescence bright orange when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. The intensity of fluorescence increases as it degree of insertion between DNA bases.
