Deliquescent substances are solids that tend to absorb moisture from the air and dissolve it. NaOH crystals are deliquescent in nature.

NaOH is corrosive in nature. It can cause severe burns and permanent damage to any tissue that it comes in contact with.

\mathrm{NaOH} ionise completely in water as \mathrm{Na}^{+}and \mathrm{OH}^{-}. Because of the  \mathrm{OH}^{-}ions in the solution, it will be strongly alkaline.
