Basidiomycetes / Club fungi -

1. The fungi imperfecti or imperfect fungi belong to class Deuteromycetes.

2. They reproduce only through asexual spores known as conidia.

3. They do not exhibit sexual reproduction or the sexually reproductive stage is not yet discovered.

4. Large members feed on the dead and decaying matter and some helps in mineral cycling.

5. Examples are- Trichoderma, Colletotrichum, and Alternaria.

6. They are also known as mitosporic fungi. 

 

 Deuteromycetes are called fungxi imperfecti because only asexual or vegetative phase of these fungi are known
