The first gibberellic acid to be isolated and identified was actually gibberellic acid GA3 that is C19H22O6.
It was isolated from the fungus Gibberella fujikuroi by Teijiro Yabuta and Sumuki Takeuchi in 1935. Later, other gibberellins, including GA1, were also identified and found to play important roles in plant growth and development.
