Agrobacterium is not a biofertilizer. Agrobacterium is a well-known species of gram-negative bacteria. It is a gene-transmitting organism.
Crown gall disease is caused by Agrobacterium tumefaciens in a wide range of dicotyledonous (broad-leaf) plants, particularly roses, apples, pears, peaches, cherries, almonds, raspberries, and roses. Because it causes crown gall disease in plants, gene transfer and expression are used most frequently in biotechnology.
Associated with plant roots, Nostoc, Rhizobium, and Mycorrhiza convert nitrogen from the atmosphere into nitrites and nitrates for use by plants. These can transform atmospheric nitrogen into bacteria that can be eaten.
As a result, it has a symbiotic relationship with some legumes and lives in their roots, providing them with nitrogen. Plants provide bacteria with food and shelter in return. In this way, biofertilizer works.
