Ramdeo Misra is known as the founder of Indian ecology because of the ground-breaking work he did to study India's environment and plant ecosystems in a planned way. He helped make ecology a real science field in the United States by studying how aquatic ecosystems, grasslands, and forests are put together and how they work. He helped start India's first official ecological study program while he was a teacher at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He won many awards, including the Padma Bhushan, for his work to protect the earth and make resource management better. His work made it possible for Indian scientists to do ecological studies today.
