Total number of coins in the piggy bank = 100+50+20+10 = 180

Let E be the event of getting a 50p coin.

Number of possible outcomes = 180

Number of outcomes favourable to event E = 100

$\therefore P(E) = \frac{favourable\ outcomes}{total\ outcomes} = \frac{100}{180}$

$= \frac{5}{9}$

Therefore, the probability of getting a 50p coin is  $\dpi{100} \frac{5}{9}$
