Block A of weight 100 N rests on a frictionless inclined plane of slope angle 30^{\circ} (in figure). A flexible cord attached to A passes over a frictionless pulley and is connected to block B of weight W. Find the weight W for which the system is in equilibrium.

In this problem, the main concept used is of ‘on balance condition’, which means., if there is no motion, then there will be no frictional force or f=0.

During the equilibrium of A or B, mg sin 30^{\circ} = F

\frac{1}{2}mg = F       \therefore( mg \ is \100N)

Thus, F= \frac{1}{2}(100)=50

Hence, when B is at rest, the weight of the block W=F =50N
