Hence the required area

$=\int_{-2}^1 ydx$

$=\int_{-2}^1 x^3dx = \left [ \frac{x^4}{4} \right ]_{-2}^1$

$= \left [ \frac{x^4}{4} \right ]^0_{-2} + \left [ \frac{x^4}{4} \right ]^1_{0}$

$= \left [ 0-\frac{(-2)^4}{4} \right ] + \left [ \frac{1}{4} - 0 \right ]$

$= -4+\frac{1}{4} = \frac{-15}{4}$

Therefore the correct answer is B.
