Potassium dichromate react with (Fe^{2+}) ion to produce solution of  (Fe^{3+}) ion and chromium reduced to +3 oxidation state.
\\Cr_{2}O_{7}^{2-}+14H^{+}+6e^{-}\rightarrow 2Cr^{3+}+7H_{2}O\\ Fe^{2+}\rightarrow Fe^{3+}+e^{-}]\times 6
