Rewrite the equation

(2^{-1}\times 4^{-1})\div 2^{-2} = (2^{-1}\times 2^{-2})\div 2^{-2}

=(2^{-1+(-2)})\div 2^{-2}    .................................a^{m}\times a^{n}= a^{(m+n)}

=(2^{-3})\div 2^{-2} = 2^{-3-(-2)}........................a^{m}\div a^{n}= a^{(m-n)}

                              = 2^{-1}= \frac{1}{2}
