we know the oxidation state of sodium(Na) is +1 and oxygen(O_{2}) is -2
Let Oxidation state = x

\\3(+1) + x + 4(-2) = 0\\ 3 + x - 8 = 0\\ x - 5 = 0\\ x = 5

Thus the oxidation state of phosphorus in Na_{3}PO_{4} is +5
