Q. 1. What is ozone and how does it affect any ecosystem?
Ozone () is a molecule formed by 3 oxygen atoms. Ozone is present in the stratosphere shielding the earth's surface from the harmful UV rays by absorbing it.
Ozone may affect the ecosystem in the following ways:
1. If this layer gets depleted, the UV rays can cause cancer in human beings and also some plants and animals.
2. The UV rays may effect the plants and destroy the vegetation.

Ozone is a gas made up of three atoms of oxygen joined together. It is formed high up in the atmosphere by the action of ultraviolet rays of the sun on oxygen atoms. Ozone layer prevents the harmful ultraviolet rays of sunshine from reaching the earth and protects us. UV rays of sunshine can cause us skin cancer, cataract in eyes and damages our immune system thereby, destroying our environment.
