A class has 41 students. The number of girls is 7 more than the number of boys. Find the ratio of the number of girls to that of boys.

Let the number of boys be x, then the number of girls is x+7. Given the total number of students are 41

Therefore

x+x+7=41

2x+7=41

2x=41-7

2x=34

x=34/7

x=17

Number of boys = 17

Number of girls= 17+7=24

The ratio of the number of girls to that of boys is 24:17
