(a) Compound microscope 

       

(b) The objective has a lower aperture and focal length is small.

        L_{3} is used as an objective

        the eyepiece has a large aperture and longer moderate focal length.

         L_{2}  is used as the eyepiece.

(c) Resolving power =\frac{1}{d_{min}}

                                  =\frac{2n\sin \beta }{1.22\lambda }

    d_{min} is the limit of resolution.

Resolving power depends on wavelength.
