?A hollow cylindrical pipe is 21dm long . Its outer and inner diameters are 10cm and 6cm respectively . Find the volume of the copper used in making the pipe .

Solution:  We have , 

                                h = height of the cylindrical pipe = 21 dm = 210cm               [ 1 dm = 10cm ]

                                R = External radius

                                   = frac102 cm = 5 cm ,                 

                                 r = Internal radius 

                                    = frac62cm = 3cm

Volume of the copper used in making the pipe 

                                                                         = Volume of the external cylinder - Volume of the internal cylinder

                                                                          = pi R^2h - pi r^2h=pi(R^2-r^2)h

                                                                          = frac227	imes (5^2-3^2)	imes 210cm^3= frac227	imes 16 	imes 210cm^3=10560cm^3
