A man sold a watch at a loss of 10%.If he taken rs.70 more,there would have been a gain of 4%. Find the cost price of that watch?

Assume the cost price of the watch = Rs CP

Loss 10 % => Selling price = (1- 0.1) CP = 0.9 CP

ATQ

If selling price = 0.9 CP + 70 => Gain 4 %

Gain 4% =  (Selling price - CP)x100/CP

(0.9 CP + 70 - CP) x 100/CP = 4

90 + 7000/CP - 100 = 4

7000/CP = 14

CP = 7000/14 = Rs 500

Hence the cost price of the watch is Rs 500.
