Wood is called the renewable source of energy because the trees do grow in due course of time and we can plant them too but coal is called the non-renewable source of energy because the coal takes years to form and has accumulated beneath the earth's surface after a long period. We can not regrow coal and its natural process takes years to form and can not match the speed it is being used by us.
