Define conductivity and molar conductivity for the solution of an electrolyte. Why does the conductivity of solution decrease with dilution ?
Conductiivity :
Conductivity or specific conductance of an electrolyte solution is a measure of its ability to conduct electricity.
Molar conductivity:
Molar conductivity is conductance of all ions produced by 1 mole of electrolyte dissolved in of solution placed between two electrodes which are unit distance apart and have large are of cross section to hold the entire volume.
Conductivity of solution decreases with dilution because with dilution, concentration decreases due to which there is a decrease in number of ions/volume.
