(a) INBREEDING refers to the mating of more closely related individuals within the same seed breed for 4 - 6 generations.

                    Whereas

OUTBREEDING is the breeding of unrelated animals which may be between individuals of the same  breed but having no common ancestor for 4 - 6 generation (outcrossing) or between different breeds (cross-breeding) or different species (interspecific hybridization)

(b) Advantages of Inbreeding -

  • Inbreeding increases Homozygosity and helps in evolving a pure-line in any animal.
  • It helps in the accumulation of superior genes and elimination of less desirable genes.
  • Inbreeding exposes harmful recessive genes that are eliminated by selection.

The disadvantage of Inbreeding -
