ACROSOME- The sperm head contains an elongated haploid nucleus, the anterior portion of which is covered by a cap-like structure, acrosome. The acrosome is filled with enzymes that help fertilisation of the ovum.

MITOCHONDRIA- The middle piece possesses numerous mitochondria, which produce energy for the movement of the tail that facilitate sperm motility essential for fertilization.

NECK – It contains two distinct granules having a significant role. The proximal centriole is required for the first cleavage division of zygote formed after fertilisation. The distal centriole gives rise to the axial filament of the tail and helps to maintain it.
