These are the effect on the characteristics of a river when the sewage is discharged into it:

  • The river water loses it's own purity and becomes heavily contaminated and also becomes unusable for us.
  • It becomes inappropriate as a living place for the aquatic species of the river.
  • The pH level of the river water also varies from the normal levels.
