Give two advantages of Self-pollination.
Pollination is the process by which plants make more plants by moving pollen from the male flower part (anther) to the female part (stigma).
There are two types of pollination:
Self-pollination - where pollen is transferred within the same plant or flower
Cross-pollination - where pollen is transferred to another plant by wind, water, or other pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
Benefits of Self-pollination:
Self-pollination guarantees reproduction even in the absence of pollinators and hence is dependable for plants in plants living in remote locations.
It also ensures genetic purity and retains desirable characteristics over generations.
