Now draw a perpendicular AP at A on the number line and cut of Arc AB =1 unit

Using pythagoras Theorem , we have

$\\ OB^2=OA^2+AB^2\\ \\ \Rightarrow OB^2=3^2+1^2\\ \\ \Rightarrow OB^2=10\\ \\ \Rightarrow OB=\sqrt{10}$

With O as centre and as radius draw an arc cutting real line at C .

Clearly OC= OB =$\\\sqrt{10}$

Thus , C repersent $\\\sqrt{10}$ on number line
