The book '' Three Man in a Boat"  is published in Eighteen Hundred Eighty Nine. It is a humorous book, which is a travelling account. It is written by Jerome K. Jerome. This book is about a two week holiday from Kingston to Thames then to Oxford and back to Kingston. Although, this book was supposed to be a serious travel guide with information on  local places and its history. Still, the book got famous and appreciated for its comical elements and humour. To the readers the jokes and satire expressed in the book seemed fresh witty and joyful which provided them with a get away from their daily life.

The story in the book "Three man in a boat" is about three friends. One of the friend, Jerome is the writer himself and the other two friends are George Wingrave and Carl Hentschel. George Wingrave would become a senior manager at Barclays Bank. While Carl Hentschel will become the founder of a London Printing Press Buisness. The dog which accompanied them in the trip is fictional means imaginary. The dog is not present in real life. The name of the dog is Montmorency. In that time boating waa considered as a leisure activity. So, this trip was about boating in Thames Camping Skiff.

The story begin with the three main characters discussing that they are overworked and might get some disease unless they decide to go out somewhere. While sittings in Jerome's room they made a plan of a trip in the country or on a sea. After some discussion, they agreed to go to a sea trip as boating holiday on river Thames. The book then described how two of them have to bribe the driver to leave them at their designated place. The rest of the story is about their trip to River and about the accidents that take place.
