Your friends problem is understandable. He is interested in volleyball team and is part of district volleyball team. He has to miss his classes and the teachers and parents have problem with this. They want him to quit the game so that he can focus on his studies. I think in this situation teachers and parents should cooperate with the child by giving him extra marks in curricular activities and also in academics for scoring position. His talent should be encouraged and he should be helped at home by his parents financially and physically and at school by teachers to adjust well with his studies. In case of lack of money, time and resources on part of school and parents the child should be asked to give extra hours to studies. So, instead of quitting the game, time table should be managed as such to give child scope for both playing volleyball and studying. There should be a balance between both.
