The International elder day is celebrated on 1 October. In India also it is celebrated on same day. Elders day is celebrated for elder people to ensure their problems are addressed and people are aware of the needs, requirements of the elderly people. Elderly people or old people are biologically different from the rest of the population. As their body is week and in state of gradual decline. There senses become week, body becomes week, nail, teeth become week. Their skin starts losing its elasticity. Their legs are week, body is weak and they can't perform their daily work. They need help,  assistance from people to lift heavy things and do their daily work.

Another thing related to older people where awareness should be raised is elderly abuse. Every day we listen to news how elderly abuse happens. How they are robbed, somebody tries to kill them for money. People don't pay attention to their basic needs such as food, bathing, urination and that is why they die early. This day is celebrated to raise awareness of their biological need and elder abuse that happens.
